Paolo Staccioli, Carro con guerrieri (Warriors Carriage), 2015 [Detail]

Paolo Staccioli, Carro con guerrieri (Warriors Carriage), 2015, iron and lustre ceramics [Detail]

Paolo Staccioli began his career as a painter in the 1970s and later became interested in ceramics in 1990s, when he decided to open his own workshop and explore different approaches to fire glazing and copper oxides. His compositions are dominated by accumulation and variation of themes where warriors, travellers and horses are recurrent characters. The elongated figures are reduced to the essential and seem fixed in a dimension outside of time in which they appear motionless.

Paolo Staccioli has won an enormous amount of praise and recognition both from critics and the general public, especially over the past ten years. He has exhibited internationally, including shows at the Hammond Museum, New York, Contemporary Art Museum Lu.C.C.A, Italy, FuLe International Ceramic Art Museum, China and the International Salon of Contemporary Art, Luxembourg.
